Ugh, I hate the cold. I'm a total baby in this weather. (And in the extreme heat, too, but that's a different post for a different day.) It makes me want to curl up on my couch with a comfy blanket and a cup of hot chocolate and watch movies all day.
Fully realizing that the answer to "what's your favorite movie?" can vary, depending on the way you look at the question, today's question is a two-parter: 1.) What's the best movie you've ever seen? and 2.) What movie can you watch over and over and over and never get sick of it?

Baby, it's cold outside.

1.) I think I'll have to go with The Shawshank Redemption.
2.) This list could go on and on... My top two are Clueless and Bridget Jones's Diary. Joining the ranks, though, are also Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Parenthood.
1. Do we mean best movie from a cultural stand point? Are we looking for Oscar winners here? Or can it be of no morally redeeming value whatsoever?
I worked at Blockbuster for 5 years, so this is really hard for me.
I would have to say Dangerous Beauty.
2. Tpea, I am right there with you on Bridget Jones's Diary. Also could do it with 50 First Dates, Troop Beverly Hills, Indian Summer, and Legally Blonde.
oh, and yes I know standpoint should be one word. Don't want to hit on any pet peeves! :)
I don't know best of all times, but I could watch "You've Got Mail", "Little Mermaid", and "Parenthood" over and over.
"Hi, Gary!" (that's for you, Tara :) )
I thought of Little Mermaid last night as I was falling asleep! And You've Got Mail is always a good one -- add that to my list, too!
"You were at Woodstock? I was at Woodstock!"
"Oh, yeah? I thought you looked familiar!"
HA. That never gets old.
I have no idea for number one. I blame that on the fact that I am not a true "movie person", no matter how hard I try.
For number two, AMEN to T Pea on Clueless and Bridget Jones! I'm also a sucker for Serendipity and Sweet Home Alabama and fall for them *every* time I watch. At the holidays, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation applies as well.
I am not sure I can pick "best" movie that I have ever seen. I really liked Hoosiers (still the only movie I cry at everytime I watch it--I am weird, I know); and I also really enjoyed Last of the Mohicans.
As for movies I can watch over and over again, definitely The Mummy and The Mummy returns. Don't know why, but I love 'em!
I thought American Beauty was pretty well done...
But as far as movies that I can watch over and over... I'm a big fan of Top Gun, Bring it On, and Anchorman, mostly because they're all so ridiculous they make me laugh every time I watch them! There's something to be said for the gratuitous volleyball scene in Top Gun... don't you agree?
This is tough. I think I'll just list some movies I like, can I do that?
1- Stand by Me
2- Office Space (I've watched this multiple times... It's classic)
3- Lord of the Rings- all three (Geek in me)
1) Glory, there's something very moving about the characters and I love the soundtrack
2) For some reason most sports drama movies. I've been watch Glory Road over and over again lately. Before then, it was Remember the Titans and then Hoosiers.
Hmmmm, BTW for another QOD suggestion, how about worse 2 movies you've ever seen? ;-) (giving some freedom to seeing more than one really, really bad movie...)
Stealing Home
I'm with A pea on Serendipity and Sweet Home Alabama.
T pea how could you forget Stealing Home?
Ohhhh, Stealing Home. Sigh. Love that movie.
