Food for Thought

You're tired. You're cranky. You're sore. You're depressed. You're... well you don't even know. It's just a feeling that makes you want to do nothing more than curl yourself into a ball and shut the world out. No matter who is knocking, you don't really want to open the door.

Unless it's Ben. Or maybe his friend Jerry. Each of them holding a pint of goodness guaranteed to take away your troubles for an hour or two. Heck, maybe you need an entire meal, but cooking is out of the question and only the cheesy goodness of Kraft Mac n Cheese (like mom used to make) will do the trick.

No matter the circumstances, there is always those one or two tried and true favorite foods that have gotten us through so many rough times. Lost loves weren't quite as bad with your new boyfriend Papa John serving up a hot, steaming pizza to your doorstep of despair, followed up by your other new love, E.L. Fudge, offering up cookie after cookie of heart filling goodness for your dessert.

Yes, we've all been there. The days when nothing goes right and it seems like the world is against you. Until you remember the hidden gem in your cupboard/fridge/freezer that holds the ultimate power to make your universe right once again. So go ahead. Reach for your never fail, instant comfort pleasure foods. What do you choose?

1.) Culver's cheese curds

2.) Ice cream - faves: Ben & Jerry's Chubby Hubby (it has that salty-sweet thing going on), cookies & cream, plain vanilla

3.) Chocolate - preferably a King Kit Kat or Twix, but in desperate situations, any old chocolate will do.

4.) A Starbucks pumpkin spice latte

5.) Doughnuts or brownies

6.) Hot chocolate or a Kaffe Wein from The Chocolate Cafe

1. Ben and Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie - where I pick out the brownie bits first.

2. Salt and Vinegar potato chips

3. Pretzels and Jalepeno Jack Cheese

4. Yellow cake mix - just mixed raw, not baked.

5. Triscuits and cream cheese

6. A good egg salad sandwich

Might I note that I currently have none of this in my house...stupid pregnancy weight gain guidelines! (Or it could be that I just finished the B&J ice cream last night watching the Amazing Race).

Where do I begin?

1. French fries dipped in Ranch dressing.

2. Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Blizzard from D.Q.

3. Cake Donuts

4. Gino's East, deep-dish pizza w/ the sausage patty and extra cheese

5. Cheddar and Sour Cream Baked Lays

This is all stuff I can no longer eat and it's really depressing. Thanks a lot for making me walk down memory lane guys. However, I am now 29 lbs. lighter since I can't eat junk food anymore.

1- Combos
2- Chex Mix
3- Pretty much anything sweet (but only chocolate as a back up)
4- Snickerdoodles are definitely a comfort... but not so instant at my house. I have to fight two chocolate chip cookie lovers.
