Take This Job...

Country music fan or not, you probably know how the rest of the blog title goes. Forgive me, but it's Monday, and I just can't bring myself to focus on things for one more minute.

Have you ever wished that you were one of those people who got up in the morning excited to go to work? Or maybe you are one of the lucky chosen few that feel that way. (If so, send a few pointers to the rest of us, will ya?) But if you, like me, have questioned whether or not these people actually exist, chances are you're not among them. Nonetheless, it's hard not to admire them and believe that someday, you too will stumble across an opportunity that brings you that kind of contentment. Maybe, just maybe, there is a job out there that can capture the joy, passion, creativity or whatever else is lacking in your current situation.

Taking into account that money is no option (you've got plenty) and you're free to choose a job that would bring you the riches that wealth alone can't offer, what job would materialize from your dream world to occupy your waking hours?

Easy. I would play Guitar Hero for a living.

Ha.

Actually, I would like to be a sign language interpreter. Not in a church or school or anything like that -- I'd like to be a freelance interpreter, who goes to appointments, meetings, etc. with people. I'd rather do a 1-1 thing than stand up in front of a room full of people [shudder] and interpret, say, the State of the Union address.

Sigh. In my next life.

I would be a meteorologist. Not one of those talking heads on TV, but a real meteorologist that sits at a computer all day tracking and predicting weather patterns. I would LOVE to do that all day...

Really.

Not all broadcast meteorologists are "fake." I think Tom Skilling would take issue with your comment....

Quite true. Tom, if you are reading this, my heartfelt apologies for being so rude. Please know that you'll always be a diamond among coal in my eyes...

Oh, the timing....

Here is a direct quote from a piece that just showed up in my mailbox:

"TV Stations don't just hire 'weather gals' anymore -- they hire layered humans with rich knowledge and a true passion for the science of meteorology." (Ginger Zee)

I'd be a writer, of course :) I would write a best seller that afforded me a comfortable life in which I could live in a beautiful place where it was always warm and sunny and I was free to write at my leisure and work on my next masterpiece.

In an actually possible world, I'd be an interior designer or professional organizer. Seriously. I could knock the socks off some of those people on HGTV.

Sigh.

Oh, and Andrew, my neighbor is a real meterologist for the weather service. He lives and breathes weather and loves every minute of it.

I *love* Tom Skilling. I was so bummed that he was the commencement speaker the year before I graduated. I got stuck w/the Pampered Chef lady.

Practically, with already having unlimited income, I'd become a middle school teacher. Young kids, not sure I could handle, older ones, maybe too arrogant in these times. I'd teach something like a computer class or whatever they haven't already learned by that point playing video games.

I would be a magician's assistant; something about knowing all the secrets would just make me eternally happy.

That or a porpoise trainer.

I'd also like to teach harmonica lessons.

I would be a lifeguard...sitting in the sun, next to the water, just waiting to save someone.

Or I would be a personal trainer. I would love to get paid to workout!!

Hmmm...I also just thought that maybe I could run a Summer Camp. I used to want to do that so badly.

**And Ginger Zee may be "Valpo Graduate" but she's got nothing on Amy Freeze on Fox. I have a friend that is a meteorologist and works for the Air Force, in Kansas. I am sure I could get you hooked up Andrew....that kind of position would be right up your alley! ;)

I would be working in an office of a Senator or the President, maybe writing speeches.

If that couldn't work out, I could be a full time cheerleading coach instead.

And now you are all wondering, who is this crazy lady?

Definitely a wedding planner or fundraising event coordinator.
Either one of those or maybe one of those people that go into others houses and organizes them.
I love being in charge and organizing :)

I would be a sculptor. But, then again, no. I would be a man who makes potions in a travelling show. At any rate, I'd buy a big house where we all could live.

Oh, HCarver, how wonderful life is while you're in the world.
