And Bingo was his name-o.

I was just driving back from lunch and heard Kid Rock on the radio, and I thought to myself, "Really? You could have picked anything, and this is what you came up with? Dude, you're clever." I mean, can't you just see it? He and his buddies were sitting around one day, probably getting loaded, when someone called him "Kid Rock" and he said, "That's totally the name I'm gonna use when I make it big!" And all his friends were like, "Duuuuude, that's awwwwesoooooome!"

So I got to thinking about the other dumb names for bands or solo artists... LL Cool J? "Ladies Love Cool James?" Are you serious? Were you, like, 15 when you thought of that? And come on, Mark Wahlberg, was Marky Mark really the best you could come up with? Or how 'bout that guy from The New Radicals? Dude, it's only you. Get over yourself.

So today is a Crabby Monday Sound Off. Let 'em rip. What musician or band names do you think are completely moronic?

I'm sure I'll think of more, but this just popped into my mind b/c I was treated to the ever so amazing song, Tubthumping, on my way back from the water cooler.

Chumbawamba. I know you're from another country, so maybe it's cool over there, but seriously... what the hell?

Oh, and I'm also not a huge fan of intentionally misspelled names, like Limp Bizkit. Although, they did do it all for the nookie, so what should I expect?

I don't want to be a big hypocrite here, but I'll answer...

How about Lit. They could've gone with hammered, drunk or smashed.

And 3 Doors Down. C'mon guys, less is more... Go with "Neighbor."

The Band. Wow. Gotta be lazy or high. Who am I kidding, they're rockers, so both.

Of course, if you ask any of these bands they would tell you that there is a deep sentimental meaning behind the names... But they wouldn't be able to tell you what exactly that meaning is. Well, I'm pretty sure Lit could tell you.

10,000 Maniacs. One of my favorite bands, but there were only 5 maniacs. And really, they played totally mellow indie-politically minded rock. Nothing even remotely maniac-related.

Stix - really? And the spelling?

Pet Shop Boys - did they meet in a pet shop? Did they plan to work in an pet shop when the records stopped selling?

Black Eyed Peas - this always makes me think of the Veggietales guys. In fact, I thought it was in reference to Veggietales until I actually heard one of their songs a couple of years ago.

Backstreet Boys - yeah, cuz any of them even knew what a 'back' street was.

Ditto for O'town. Was the "O" in reference to a seemingly elusive female moment? I highly doubt that any of them ever found out!

The only one that ever really bothered me was "Captain and Tennille." Was he really a captain? I know he had the hat.

In the end I guess it was a catchier name than "Dragon and Tennille." Love wouldn't have kept them together.

Erin's comment about The Backstreet Boys and O'Town... I have no idea what you're talking about. Apparently some word begins with "o"... Like ovary or something? Guys like things black and white. Please clarify :)

And TP, nice burn. And agreed. What can I say... I used to talk with a British accent, just like Britney except less Rednecky, so I guess I liked words that "sounded" British... Like scone.

Wow - what a bunch of haters.

What names are acceptable to this crowd?

btw, it's Styx, I believe named after a Mythological River.
