Without a song or a dance, what are we?
This has been a great trip down memory lane this week! It's been so much fun to relive some of the memories that have been created over the years. I have such amazing friends and family and for that, I am blessed. And I am so thankful for the friends, loves and music of my past that have made me who I am today.
But never fear, today will not be a sappy "What are you most thankful for?" question. No, no. Yes, I know, today is about giving thanks. But it's also about the food, man. It's all about the food. Since we do need to tie it in to music somehow, here goes.
In the immortal words of Adam Sandler, "Gobble gobble goo and gobble gobble gickle. I wish turkey only cost a nickel."
What Thanksgiving food do you love so much that you would write a song about it?

Thank You for the Music

Ok. So it's not totally unique to Thanksgiving...but I would write, sing a song and do a dance for Cool Whip. Anyone who knows me knows that I usually have just a little pumpkin pie with my Cool Whip (and I actually only do that to be polite. Really, just gimme the plate of Cool Whip.) Sing a song about that, Adam Sandler!! :)
Cranberries -- not from a can, but the fresh variety. If cranberries were the only fruit left on the planet, I'd still never grow tired of them.
Stuffing.
I could eat stuffing for the rest of my life and still love it as much as I do today.
But only good stuffing. With gravy. Not the ultra mushy kind or any that has weird ingredients like sausage or gizzards. Nope. Keep it simple. Keep it mine, actually. I make the *best* stuffing ever. I am pretty sure it could even bring a non-stuffing lover over to the dark side.
I love it all. Really, I do. A favorite? Hard to say for sure...but I can't imagine Thanksgiving without pumpkin pie. (From which comes the lovely flavor of the pumpkin spice latte. hehe.) Yum!
I'm with Cindy. I love it all. I join A Pea in the Stuffing Lovers Club. My grandma made the best stuffing ever, and when she finally relinquished control over the holidays, she had a training session for my mom and aunt. I'm not sure where I was at the time, but I missed it and still need to schedule my make-up session.
I also join Cindy in the pumpkin pie club. But sorry, Jen, only real whipped cream for this girl. Cool Whip? Blehhhh.
And then there's green bean casserole. For most of you, this is probably old hat, but I had it for the first time at my first in-law (or was it pre-in-law?) Thanksgiving. I know they get sick of me being so picky? (me? never.), so I sucked it up and tried it -- and it was like the heavens opening up. I've tried making it from scratch with fresh mushrooms, homemade bread crumbs, milk, etc., but nothing beats the good, old-fashioned Campbell's soup, canned beans and French's fried onions variety. Yum.
I would sing a energetic version of the Hallelujah Chorus sung to the words of MASHED POTATOES! It's really all that is necessary on Thanksgiving Day.
My entire Thanksgiving song would include loud bass and a chorus of "WHERE'S THE SALAD!!"....ugh, Thanksgiving. Love the family time, love the giving of the thanks, hate the food.
Stuffing... original I know.
And anyone who calls it "dressing" deserves to have a heaping spoonful of it dumped onto his or her garden salad.
Give me a potato, PLEASE! Mashed, baked, fried, I don't care, just let me eat potatoes again. That is one of the things I miss sooooo much about being a Diabetic. I always say that when I get to Heaven, I really hope that I can spend an eternity swimming in a vat of ranch dressing and french fries. Yum. I guess I got off the Thanksgiving subject, sorry about that. ;)
